February 21, 2009. This day is a day of community service for us as first year students of NSTP. Waking up at 6:00 in the morning is not ordinary for me, but this time, I should wake up as early as I can, why? Because at exactly 7:00 to 7:30 in the morning our instructor in NSTP Mr. Romy G. Ebi are going to check our attendance. According to him, we should assemble a

s early as that for as to do our task much more productive. I arrived at the school at exactly 7:00 in the morning our instructor is quit strict in checking and monitoring the attendance. Some of my school mates fail to reach on time due to several reasons. I feel sorry for them because our instructor already closed the attendance at exactly 7:30. After checking the attendance of each class, Mr. Ebi gives as a brief instruction on what we are going to do. A few minutes after we are now ready to proceed to our destination. The friendly Barangay of Malvar, Guest what? We are going to do the so called “Walkaton”.
Yes, we walk, some are happy and some are confusing because, we are going to walk instead of riding a tricycle, some said as I heard “what a waste of time and energy” I think while walking, this simple quote bother my mind, why thus this student need to say it after all she’s wearing a NSTP t-shirt and going to have community service. As I continue walking I think again and reflect to myself, we are walking not to waste a time and energy we are walking to help, have fun and enjoyment while helping a community. To walk we need a step and to serve we need to sacrifice. Upon reaching the barangay, we prepared all the needed materials, we cleaned the venue, arrange the chairs for our Seminar and prepare all the foods for the feeding program. While waiting for our guest, I looked around
side by side why thus some of the students are very busy and others are just standing and murmuring around, then I think a very deep thinking those student who are very busy they really know the real meaning of National Service Training Program while in the other hand, those student who are standing and looking around they are here for the sake of attendance not to serve. Then suddenly Mr. Christian Lomboy a PN 1 Student from allied Department caught my attention because he ask me a favor if I would like to host the program, I felt little shock cause I’m not prepared at that time but then even though I realized this is for NSTP, I’m going to host the program because of service, we are all here to serve so with no more talk, I answered him a Big-big yes. Our guest is already arrive, they are the very cute and energetic children of malvar. After preparing our selves, we are now ready to face our guest. To formally start the program the host (that’s me) called Mrs. Vanessa San Pedro a PN 1 Student for the invocation and Ms. Charmaine Alicaycay also a PN 1 Student to lead the National Anthem, after the singing of the national anthem Ms. Roberts an allied courses instructor give her opening remarks, after Ms. Roberts give her opening remarks the selected student of Allied Department start the discussion about the health care , the speakers discuss the benefits of vegetable and milk to the body of the children’s they also prepared a game for the children and a song sung by Ms. Catleen Glo Madayag of Section t1. Me and Eric my partner also do the hep hep horey game, the children’s who participate to the said games are very-very happy though some are sad because they don’t won but they receive a consolation prize, after the children’s take their lunch we play stop dance this game is very happy because the position and reaction of the children’s when the music is stop is really amazin

g. The feeding program is now ready its (kainan time ika-nga) each student of NSTP has assigned one child to feed of. The hot soup is now ready to eat and the cold juice is now ready to drink. All of us are now ready to eat our food. Section S1 who prepared the food and with the help of the NSTP students distributed the food, while the students are feeding the children’s, some are getting picture like me for the documentation, and while the children’s are eating Barangay Captain Jimmy Vic Elarde give his words to AMACC Santiago Campus. Captain Jimmy gives his thanks and gratitude to the school as well as the students for choosing and helping the Barangay Malvar. After eating our speakers proceed to the next topic which is oral hygiene, the speaker Ms. Elvy of PN 1 teach the children’s in proper way of cleaning their teeth, after showing and illustrating the proper way of cleaning their teeth the student of NSTP assist the children’s to apply the proper tooth brushing. After this the seminar and feeding program officially over, All NSTP students hand and hand in cleaning the area before we are going to leave. we leave the barangay malvar with smile on our face. in tha outreach program we consume 8 hours.
